The stratum force of the drilling machine is directly proportional to the drilling pressure; increasing the drilling pressure significantly increases the stratum force.

The concepts of the drill bit lateral cutting index, anisotropy index, and comprehensive cutting directional anisotropy index were introduced, leading to general and simplified forms of the natural inclination force of strata suitable for actual drill bits of drilling machines under conditions of volume and surface fragmentation. Using the drilling machine's conical pressure method, formulas for the stratum inclination-changing force and the stratum azimuth-changing force during directional drilling were derived, providing a basis for stratum force analysis in directional well trajectory control. Theoretical analysis results were found to align well with practical drilling data.

In directional wells, the stratum inclination-changing force and the stratum azimuth-changing force depend on the well deviation angle, drilling pressure, stratum dip angle, directional anisotropy index of the drilling machine's drill bit, anisotropy index of the stratum, well azimuth, and upward/downward dip direction force of the stratum. Generally, the stratum inclination-changing force causes the trajectory of the drilling machine's drill bit to approach the normal direction of the stratum, while the stratum azimuth-changing force causes the well azimuth to approach the dip direction of the stratum. When the well azimuth of the drilling machine coincides with the dip direction of the stratum, the stratum azimuth-changing force is zero.

3. Based on the newly proposed concepts, a critical stratum dip angle equation was derived, providing an initial quantitative explanation for predicting the tendency of the drill bit.
